Welcome to the Academy Homeschool
HighlandsAcademy.org is a faith-based educational ministry that supports and encourages parents who want to take greater personal responsibility for their children's education. We help you build a solid academic program that can be adapted to a wide range of student abilities and needs. Students study a full course of subjects and follow a regular course of Bible instruction. We work with the parents of enrolled students (and directly with students past school-leaving age) to develop individualized programs that are rigorous and challenging, but are not beyond the student's ability to be successful.
Admission to the Academy is not competitive. Students of all ages and experience are welcome, including adults. Students entering the program are expected to have mastered basic skills in numeracy and literacy and will have reached the age of at least eight years. We place emphasis on developing the basic skills of learning and teach students the great works of literature in their historical context. French is taught as a second language. Special coursework is available for students who need extra help in mathematics and language.
We are devoted to providing educational materials that are free. They are free of charge, free of state interference, and free of prejudice. We promote the the freedom to believe, think, worship, and direct our lives as God is leading us to do. If you would like to support such a ministry, we encourage you to become a Ministry Partner. No tuition fees are charged for any of our programs. We rely solely on the generosity of our Partners to support the work of the ministry.
Students under age 16 complete a two-year Foundation Studies course before beginning the Great Books program of the Academy. Students under age 10 enter a Preparatory Program. An evaluation is required before entry into the programs to ensure that the student has met the minimum requirements for Numeracy and Literacy.
